How to Apply for Funds

The Best Western Beacon Charitable Trust is happy to accept applications from employees and owners of Best Western Hotels, owners and employees of Beacon members and also applications from Interchange and Consort Central office employees.

Each case is reviewed on its own merits at the trustees meetings which are held at least four times a year. Occasionally where circumstances dictate, applications are reviewed by the trustees outside of the meetings particularly where there is urgency or a long gap between meetings.

The trust has limited funds and works to a set of parameters that include (but are not limited) to the following guidelines:

  • The trust has been established to fund causes local to the community in which the employer of the applicant is based. Causes that are national charities will not normally be supported by the trust more than once in any calendar year.
  • The trust has been established to fund events that require ‘seed-funding’ to cover the cost of greater fundraising (e.g. admin costs, marketing costs, etc.) so that all money raised can go directly to the cause.
  • The trust prefers to fund events that are located in the UK. The trust does not normally fund events that take place outside the UK.
  • The trust prefers to fund events at which the expected overall amount of money raised for the cause will be at least five times the amount of funding requested from the trust.
  • The trust will not normally make simple donations to a charity.
  • The trust will only consider applications for funding made by:
    • an owner or employee of a Best Western member hotel or operating company, or
    • an owner or employee of a Beacon member organisation, or
    • an employee of Interchange and Consort Hotels Limited.
  • Applications for funding should be submitted early enough for the trustees to consider the application before the planned event takes place. Normally two months in advance of the event will be sufficient.
  • Applicants will be expected to provide details of the success of the event and the total amount raised within two months of the event taking place.
  • Applications that meet the trust’s objectives and preferences will be looked on more favourably than those that do not. Submission of an application is no guarantee that funding will be granted by the trust.

The application form below should be completed before your application can be reviewed. We may come back to you if we feel further information is required. Also if we feel your application may be rejected in its current form we will also contact you to advise ways to modify to potentially get this approved.

Once an application has been reviewed by the trustees we will contact you to advise the outcome.

Full funding guidlines can be downloaded from here.

If you require any assistance completing the application form please contact Rachel Jackson on 01904 695516 or by email rachel.jackson@interchangeandconsort.co.uk.
